About Us
Who We Are
The Climate and Energy Policy Initiative (CEPI) is a non-profit, independent policy think tank working to strengthen climate governance, unlock climate finance, and shape regulatory frameworks that deliver real impact across Africa.
Through our research and policy contributions we advice governments, development partners, investors, and corporates navigating the complex and evolving landscape of climate and energy policy.
Formerly known as Clean Energy Policy Institute, we adopted our new name to reflect the expanded scope of our work, from a focus on energy access and the energy transition to a broader climate agenda.
This includes carbon markets, corporate climate accountability, climate finance, and the intersection of climate change with global trade and investment. Our commitment remains the same: to support ambitious, inclusive, and research-based policymaking for a more resilient and equitable future.
Our Mission
To accelerate the development and implementation of ambitious climate and energy policies that drive Africa’s transition to a net-zero future.
We work through research, advocacy, and strategic engagement to shape frameworks that unlock climate finance, support green industrialisation, and enhance Africa’s competitiveness in a rapidly changing global economy.
